I really hate this part of my job !
Because I missed Zann’s first speech therapy session at KKH today. Because I have to tend to other kids first which explains why my childcare leave isn’t approved.
It’s really not fair. I couldn’t be around for Zann on many important occasions already and now I am missing today’s first rehabilitation session. What’s even worse was to hear unbearable criticism from a not so understanding superior !
It’s depressing thinking of it now.
Today we had an art and craft session with the lower primary children. All the teachers were involved. The fruits and vegetables theme was implemented by Auntie Ting. She taught and prepared all the work.
My turn to do art and craft will come on the 10 Dec, which I will be doing up a pop-up story book. I have finished the mock-up, prepared the materials. Looking forward to it. *Excited*
Auntie Ting brought her many masterpieces to let us see. I was extremely impressed by her work. So real and beautiful carved out from her hands. And all these were made from flour ! Incredible right? I couldn’t get the dough recipe from her. She said it was top secret.
Today was the last baking class I had with the children in the June holidays. Everything went well except that I had accidentally scalded my right hand from the oven. Mrs GL took over the decoration part with the kids. Auntie Ting, our cook brought her home baked chocolate cake too. I was really impressed by her zest towards baking. She always bring us a cake every two days for us to try and bring home. Guess what? When I told her there’s ongoing classes at Phoon Huat, she went to sign up at once.
The question in the paper asked, Why is seed called a living thing ? ZH, one of the boys in my class has problem with this question.
ME: Because the seed needs sunlight, air and water to grow into a plant.
ZH: What is a seed ?
ME: Seed grows into a plant.
ZH: What is a seed ?
I was thinking of how to convince him so I drew a seed on a paper and showed him. And he still asked the same question, refusing to write the answer !
Background information about Zhao Hui.
He’s on medication for attention deficit order (ADHD). He never sits still in the class. He disturbs his friends and interrupts my teaching. And he never COMPLETES his school work. Once a while when he’s in a good mood, he will listen. Sometimes, he will crawl under the table and turn violent.
I am not the only teacher around having problem with him. But because he’s in my class and under my care, I told the principal I will try my best.
Seriously, I do not know if I can do it. But i will try.
Sigh.
