Her fever came back again…

August 19, 2010

This time, there’s phlegmy cough. I went back to the same doctor whom we saw last week. Even the doctor was surprised to see us back again.

I need a second opinion. So I asked the doctor whether it is normal for a childcare teacher to say it’s no big deal not drinking water for a day only. I did not want to push the blame but I asked for my child to be well taken of during the day. After all, Zann spend 8 hours plus in the centre and not drinking water can contribute to lower immune system. How?

But what I got back was a hostile reply and I am being labelled as a fussy parent. It doesn’t make sense.

The doctor told me to change the childcare centre. Given the kind of attitude and negligence, it doesn’t help Zann at all. Although not drinking water may not cause fever and cough directly but it definitely plays a part when the child is sick.

If you were me, do you think you can close one eye  of what’s being said from your child’s teacher ?

Homebound for 2 days: Zann is sick

August 9, 2010

Supposed to be a long weekend and we had plans to go out. But we didn’t. Because Zann has been sick for 2 days. She has a high fever since Friday night. The temperature moved from mild grade to high grade.

All of us were bored cooping up at home. She asked to go playground many times. I have to find home activities to keep her occupied besides doing housework and cooking. It’s not really manageable especially when Daddy had to work over the weekend.

Hopefully, the girl will get better by tomorrow.

I did stick puzzle with her today and she likes it. This was one of the puzzles she decorated. It’s a snail on the grassland.

Still feverish

Zann’s fever was between 38 degrees to 38.5 degrees the last 2 days. Until this morning, her temperature shot up to 39 degrees. I didn’t bring her to childcare for I know she would not be allowed to go in. Having no choice, I decided to seek Auntie Jenny’s help at the very last minute.

Zann spent the whole day at her centre, with no sign of missing or looking for me. Her fever has subsided when I fetched her home. I am even glad that she ate and drank well under Auntie Jenny’s care. I must say, Auntie Jenny’s a good cook. Both Zann and I had our dinner at her place before going home.

Hopefully, tomorrow she will feel better.

Almost recovered …

Zann was so engrossed in solving the puzzle that she kept flipping over and redoing it again and again. Maybe it’s time to get her a new set of puzzles.

She has just recovered from stomach flu. Doc advised not to take any dairy products because she has been throwing up whatever she ate and drank.  Which also means she has not been eating and drinking well for the past few days. To keep her hydrated, I can only give her  fruits and lip balm for her chapped lips.

Today she was back to her usual self. Her appetite has improved. But she has lost some weight though.

Sigh….

My precious is unwell today.

She had a bad cough with phlegm two weeks ago. Now that the phelgm has cleared, the cough still remains. Last night, she was coughing so badly until she couldn’t sleep properly. The medicine she had taken for two weeks was not effective.

This evening, she did not seem energetic as usual. She was lying on her bed and her eyes were closed. She even gave her dinner and milk a miss. My fear was confirmed when I touched her forehead.

Before we headed to the clinic, I asked her if she can walk, and she said yes.

This time round, the doctor has prescribed 4 types of syrup. I was so worried she might not cooperate with me, so I bought her pack of gummies on the way home.

Supplement

reallyrawhoney

Zann has her cod fish oil and fruits regularly.

Whenever she has a mucousy cough or sore throat, the fever never fails to comes along. It’s like a cycle bound to happen every few months. I was even thinking on ways to improve her immune system.  That day, while discussing with her principle on the immunity issue, I was also introduced to raw honey. Erm…honey? something which I never thought of. What’s more the raw part striked me as uncooked stuff which I wasn’t keen on initially.

But I decided to give a try after much thought. Hopefully it works.

Fever

October 26, 2008

Zann is resting at home today.

This morning, she woke up early than usual. I didn’t thought anything unusual until my hand brushed against her body. It was so hot. It was then that I realised she is having a fever.

Nurofen

November 9, 2007

I hardly caught any sleep.
Keeping myself awake, sponging every 2 hours,
feeding panamol every 4 hours.

7am

I finally concussed.

915am

I called back office to take a day’s leave.

1000am

Her temperature shot up to 39.5C.

I brought her back to the clinic.
Doctor Sim told me it usually take 2-3days
for young children to recover from fever.

Anyway, I wasn’t listening to his theory-preaching.

I wanted a stronger prescription which could control the fever better.

I went home with nurofen, the orange suspension.

5pm

The temperature has subsided.
But I am still monitoring.

High Fever

November 7, 2007

100pm

I was preparing to go for my lunch until I received a call from childcare.
I was informed that Zann was having a high fever of 38.5C.

Lucky Pam was around.
I told her I need to take urgent half day off
to fetch Zann back from childcare.

Along the way back in the cab, I saw the ferris wheel. And I took a snap.

—–

Zann was asleep when I reached the centre.
I touched to feel her hot forehead.

While packing her stuffs, I saw the water level
in her bottle was still the same when I prepared in the morning.

I asked Teacher Jamilah,
“She didn’t drink any water from morning till now?”

Her reply to me was Zann didn’t want to drink.

I was totally unhappy.
But before I wanted to ask more, I decided not to stay any longer.

I just want to bring Zann home soonest.

——

After feeding her the Calpol from the last prescription,
Zann went back to slumberland.

It wasn’t until 4pm, she woke up with a cry.

Her temperature shot up to 39C.

I keep sponging her with cold water.
That was my only way to bring the temperature down.

——-

700pm

I was at the pediatrician.

She was given voren supp bullet forms, to insert at her anus.
I was told to feed her panamol every 4 hours.

Offically sick …

September 7, 2007

First was Zann.
Next followed by myself.
Yea…we were both sick.
But Zann has recovered while me feeling terrible.
I woke up with a bad sore throat and fever.

But my day did not stop there.
Feeling sick with medication, I struggled to cope ALONE
with the hyper active Zann at home…
I almost lost my sanity lor.

Finally the wait was over in the late afternoon.
Mr Postman came knocking on the door with the bag.

—-

These were the few books
I have bought for Zann last week.
And it has been a long long time since I read aloud to her.
I laid the books on the floor for her to choose.

But the attention span lasted no more than 15 mins.
She’s giving me a ” I am not interested ” attitude.
