I need a vacation!
My desire for one during this time of the year prompted me to sign up for the contest organised specially by OMY and Royal Caribbean Cruises (Asia) Pte Ltd. Selected contestants will get to tour the cruise ship, Legend of the Seas, which is currently homeport in our city state at Singapore Cruise Centre @ Harbourfront, adding Singapore to its already impressive list of Port-of-Calls worldwide.
As this is my first time onboard a cruise ship, it will definitely add on to the excitement and anticipation. Furthermore, it is a refreshing change away from air travel and road trips.
Out of the selected 40 bloggers who were invited, 10 lucky ones will be offered a trip on board the Legend of the Seas for a 5D4N Isle of Southeast Asia Cruise (Malaysia and Phuket). And that’s not all; the grand winner will win a 7D5N Western Mediterreanean Fly-Cruise onboard Liberty of the Seas, which is one of the largest ships sailing in Europe.
Enough said, let’s embark!

Welcome onboard the Legend of the Seas.

Our first stop, Anchors Aweigh Lounge, where the opening speech for our tour was conducted.

A short introduction by Alvin fromOMY.sg and Royal Caribbean staff.

The Anchors Aweigh lounge is the ship’s secondary performance venue, where one gets to enjoy live band and dancing. The effect of the reflection from the cove lighting sure looks like the aurora borealis!

The Classy European themed bar

Our Royal Caribbean staff guide who brought us around the ship. Weather was excellent but I was ‘melting’ under the scorching hot sun on the open deck.

Looking down from deck 10: a view of the main pool and whirlpool. I need a dip! You can spot the construction of Reflections at Keppel Bay condominium underway in the backdrop.

The jogging track which covers the entire perimeter circumference of the cruise ship. How about a jog just before sunrise with the cool morning sea breeze gliding through your face? You will also get to watch the entire sunrise process peering out of the horizon.

This area is called “Legend of the Links”, where you can engage in rock wall climbing and enjoy a game of golf at the 9-hole miniature golf course.

This is a closer shot of the signature rock-climbing wall. A bonus panoramic view of the deck awaits you once you get to the peak.

Viking Crown lounge at Deck 11, the highest lounge on the cruise ship.

Full bay glass windows are installed in such an angle it gives you a panoramic view of the deck, ocean and horizon, not mentioning it lets in sufficient natural lighting in the day and yet blocks out the additional glare and heat overhead.

This is the Solarium with a sliding overhead roof at Deck 9 with Poolside lounge. It can be transformed from an outdoor pool to an indoor pool during inclement weather. Neat!

The secondary pool’s depth easily exceeded my height.

One of the hot tubs.

The ShipShape Spa where every lady would love. The perfect place to relax, enjoy and rejuvenate.

A peak inside the Spa room.

Pamper yourself when you are at the ShipShape Spa to their luxurious Elemis Aroma Stone Therapy.

The ShipShape Fitness Centre with their complete array of gym equipment. Treat yourself to a splendid view of the ocean horizon while you burn off those calories (from the mouth-watering meals that you might have piled up during your cruise trip)

It’s time to explore the staterooms. Royal Caribbean offers four main stateroom choices, being Suites, Balcony, Ocean View and Interior. Due to limited time constrain, we only managed to view the Family Suite.

View of the Family suite

This is a separate living/sleeping area for the kids in the Family Suite. Twin bathrooms, a vanity area and a refrigerator count amongst some of the amenities in the suite. It is so spacious and well equipped, one might just mistaken it for a serviced apartment.

Try your stakes on the high seas.

Games such as slot machines, video poker to blackjack for your entertainment.

Its time for lunch at the Romeo & Juliet Dining Room.

My first appetizer entrée, Cold Prawn with chilli sauce.

Second entrée: Chef’s Halibut. I love the taste of this!

Liquor strawberry ice cream with cinnamon biscuit for dessert.
This sumptuous treat was such a pleasure way to end this tour onboard the Legend of the Seas. We had to disembark as the ship was nearing guests boarding time. Nevertheless, I had a great time with everyone.
A big thank you to OMY and Royal Caribbean Cruise for making this tour possible. It was such an eye opener to visit this cruise ship.
