Progress

Last week, with school in full swing, Zann returned with homework, spelling list and ting xie list. She didn’t learn hanyu pinyin during her K2 chinese class in kindergarten and childcare. Now that I remember when asked. Daddy and I don’t recall seeing any hanyu pinyin in the excercise books returned back to us after each term ended last year. Neither did Chinese Teacher Guan spoke to Daddy on Zann’s progress during the parents-teacher session.

Daddy told me that Zann had expressed many times last year, asking for me to take care of her at home. Hearing that, I feel guilty about not spending enough time on her progress in school last year since Sept. Many times, I keep thinking, can I really not work? I wish.

Sun. Church, Spring cleaning, ting xie and Spelling revision.
So much to do, yet so little time.

Zann threw her tantrum, refused to learn and write while I was preparing lunch.

I think I am too anxious  getting her to grasp the hanyu pinyin tingxie fast without getting her to understand the concept.

8 hours later, she finally got the concept.
All correct when I tested her twice on last night.
She even rewarded herself with so many stickers.

Ok, I just have to do it slow and patiently.

This morning, she passed me a card:

I opened it up and saw all the hanyu pinyin inside.

I  am getting worried about her not adapting well since she was not exposed to hanyu pin yin. My chinese also not that fantastic.  Plus I am also clueless about how to go about teaching her chinese. I feel so stressed while Daddy took it easy. :(

My P1 son is still attending Berries for weekend Chinese enrichment. They teach Hanyu Pinyin and oral presentation too. Maybe you can consider.

yes, sign zann up for hanyu pinyin enrichments at cc or those chinese enrichment centres. It is really crucial to set the right mood for her to learn chinese. Dun let her see it is a chore, she will hate if for life.
